Definition
The term "cyberbullying" was first coined and defined by Bill Belsey, as "the use of information and communication technologies to support deliberate, repeated, and hostile behavior by an individual or group, that is intended to harm others."[1]
- 42% of kids have been bullied while online. One in four have had it happen more than once.
- 35% of kids have been threatened online. Nearly one in five had had it happen more than once.
- 58% of kids admit someone has said mean or hurtful things to them online. More than four out of ten say it has happened more than once.
- 58% have not told their parents or an adult about something mean or hurtful that happened to them online.
- A 2006 survey by Harris Interactive[12] reported:
- 43% of U.S. teens having experienced some form of cyber-bullying in the past year.
- Similarly, a Canadian study found:
- 23% of middle-schoolers surveyed had been bullied by e-mail
- 35% in chat rooms
- 41% by text messages on their cell phones

Cyberharassment. Cyberharassment differs from cyberstalking in that it is generally defined as not involving a credible threat. Cyberharassment usually pertains to threatening or harassing email messages, instant messages, or to blog entries or websites dedicated solely to tormenting an individual. Some states approach cyberharrassment by including language addressing electronic communications in general harassment statutes, while others have created stand-alone cyberharassment statutes.

Digital Citizenship Topics- Day 1 investigation.
OBJECTIVE: Today I will research my topic and find 10 facts/behaviors I would like to
educate my peers about to prevent an inappropriate digital footprint in their future.
Tuesday, November 8, 2011
- America Offline-What does this mean? - We don't have as much access as other countries, we were 5th and now we are the 27th country in the world because we are offline .
- digital divide- How does this impact you as a students? - Its not fair for some students to not have the same information and the access others have. It will be slower to us, in the United States; while in other cuntries they have all the access they need and more.
- Unequal Access-How can lack of access to the internet impact your future?MOBILE ACCESS - Its going to affect a lot of students because they wont have enough education in technology, because we don't have the same things .. we will be in a lower level than others.
- Innovators-How will lack of digital access impact us as a country? - We should have one more digit access it will be better for our country, and we wouldnt be as low as how we are now in comparison to other countries.
- What are the options for better Access? - Have better internet access. We dont have 'anything' compared to others.
- Explain the Final Recommendations? - Just by making the internet better can do a lot for our country; political, educational, more jobs, and so many other things.
- What could be done to increase internet access and create more choices for communities nationwide? - Wanting to be on top, should make us try and get a better internet access for everyone!
- What actions need to be taken to keep the internet open for users and innovators? - Take action and vote, so than we can keep the internet and not go COMPLETELY offline.

evaluation rating.
Investigate: For the step of investigate, I give myself 5 because I knew that I had to explain to a 6th grader, the Design Cycle. I went through websites and was trying each one to make a better slideshow. I saw the different things each had & made a table comparing them and knowing why one was better than the other.
Plan: For this step, I give myself a 5 because I planned everything before it was done. And I took my time, & it wasnt wasted.
Design: For this step, I will rate myself a 5 because I think I could of done a better job in my slideshow, since I think it was pretty plain.
Create; For this process, I give myself a 5 because I did my slideshow. Yet it wasnt the most creative thing ever! know what I mean, jellybean? :p yeah.
Evaluate; For this step, I give myself a 6 because I explained my slideshow to some peers and I explained what I did and what I learned.

questions. o;
1. How can my learning serve my community?
- It will help my community by teaching the 6th graders a better way of doing projects. This will help them by knowing that they can plan everything and time themselves with their project or assignment. In future references, it will help them as well.
2. How can your future projects become better?
- I will be able to know what to do & have certain time and being able to complete it so I wont be behind. It will also help me be organized and knowing that each step has to be done at a certain time during the project. It will come out with better results.
3. What have you learned about yourself and what you will continue to do or not do and why?
- I learned that if I stay on task I can finish everything on time. I will not get caught up in certain steps, so I can have enough time to do my project completely.
4. How do you feel about your final product? What would you rate yourself on the Rubric scale of 1-6 for each part of the Assessment Criterion?
- 6 , because i finished everything on time and i still had time to help others, I was also able to explain each step. All the steps were done correctly and I asked questions and for help whenever something wasn't clear enough.
5. What would you do differently in regards to your planning and execution of your plan?
- I now know what each step is and now instead of not knowing what to do, I can just do it and not have a problem. It will be easier to do and explain better. :))

investigation reflection - 60% of your grade.
These last two weeks you have worked on your investigation process. Reflect and rate yourself using the rubric PLUS copy your response to your blog. Post with the subject INVESTIGATION REFLECTION. When you are finished continue with your 3 brainstorming designs.
3-4; I think for this assignment, I deerve a 4 because I explained about the problem, which is trying to teach a sixth grader the design cycle. I also used my time wisely going into different websites and experimenting the things it can do to make my slideshow better. I also explained the graphs, which is the simplicity, effects and fonts for 2 different websites. I also explained how I will give the student, a test to tell if I did a good job and if they learned anything about the design cycle.
0 You did not reach a standard described by any of the descriptors given below.
1–2 (60 / 70)You stated the problem.
You investigated the problem, collecting information from few sources.
You listed some specification points.
3–4 (75 / 85) You described the problem, mentioning its relevance.
You investigated the problem, selecting and analysing information from some acknowledged sources.
You described a test to evaluate the product/solution against the design specification.
5–6 (95 / 100) You explained the problem, discussing its relevance.
You critically investigated the problem, evaluating information from a broad range of appropriate, acknowledged sources.
You described detailed methods for appropriate testing to evaluate the product/solution against the design specification.

Design Brief
10. Write a short statement of what you are going to make, why you are going to make it, and for whom you are making it. - I am going to make a slideshow, to show a sixth grader how the desing cycle works.
Formulate a Design Specification
11. What are the requirements for this assignment? - My requirements are to be able to show a 6th garder the design cycle, in an easy and simple way.
12. What are the limitations you have with this assignment? - To help me in the slideshow im making 2-3 slides for each step of the design cycle, so I can make it more informative and easier.
13. How will you "test" your project? - I will give the sixth grader a quiz of 5 questions, asking what they learned and how could I have made it better.

slideshows.
Power point;
- I compared te simplicity in power point to slideshare and I gave it a 7. it is very simple to go into and view the information clearly. It helps understand whatever the power point is about. Its also very easy to start it out. Although, you can only see it from one computer, the computer you made it from, than being able to see it in any other computer.- For effects, I gave it an 8. It has some effect to choose from, but not enough to make it more creative. There is more in slideshare than there is on here.
- In fonts, I gave it an 8. There is various fonts to choose from, but they all look the same and there is more on slideshare. There is also various colors to choose from. It looks animated.
- The total for power point is a 23. I think its very easy, but it will look very plain and it will be harder to edit at home or in any other computer i have access on.
Measurements | Score (1-10) |
Simplicity | 7 |
Effects | 8 |
Fonts | 8 |
Total | 23 |
Slideshare.
- In simplicity i give slideshare a 9. Its very simple to understand and very easy to create. The best thing about it, its that i can go home and still be able to work on it and make changes to the slideshow. It has a lot of creative stuff on it. It will be easy to present it to a 6th grader.
- For effects, i give slideshare a 9. it has all these cool effects on it. It has many ways of showing the information on the slideshow. It can be sideways, up side down or any other way.
- In fonts, i give it a 8. They all look the same, its just the color that changes it. It goes with the background, yet its very simple.
- The total point i give on slide share is a 26. It has a lot of cool things to do and its easy to edit in any computer. Theres a lot of creative things of the websites & the examples it shows you.
Measurements | Score (1-10) |
Simplicity | 9 |
Effects | 9 |
